Communicating your research process and ideas

The second Design and Digital World workshop focused on visual communication of research ideas and processes using websites, storytelling and blogging.

The workshop helped attendees develop an understanding of techniques for communicating their research process and emerging ideas creatively using digital media. The workshop covered how other projects/researchers have used these techniques and asks participants to reflect on how to overcome communication issues using digital media.

Creatively Organise and Visualise your Data

The third Design and Digital World workshop explored digital tools for presenting the analysis of research data in new and different ways.

The purpose of the workshop was for researchers to gain an understanding of novel ways to organise research data and to learn more about creative digital tools for presenting the analysis of research. Attendees were given the opportunity to practice some digital skills techniques in relation to the visual representation of data.

Techniques covering include: Wordclouds, NVIVO e Visme.

Establishing a digital presence for your research

The first Design and Digital World workshop outlined what having a ‘digital presence’ means and considered how you might go about building one.

The workshop aimed to improve knowledge of the benefits of establishing a digital presence, both for the researcher and the research project, allowing attendees to think about their own branding needs, develop a strategy to implement and have the opportunity to practice some digital skill techniques in relation to social media.

Specific platforms covered in the session are: Blogs, Podcasts, Linkedin, Slideshare, Research Gate, Websites and Twitter.

Increase Your Digital Impact

The fourth and final Design and Digital World workshop focused on creative ways to disseminate your research and increase impact with the use of video, interactive activities and podcasts.

In this workshop attendees gained an understanding of how ‘digital impact’ works, and the important aspects relating to impact which need to be considered at the inception stage of research. There are also opportunities to learn more about creative digital tools for extending the reach of dissemination activities and practice some digital skills techniques to maximise the impact of your research.

Platforms covered include: Slideshare, Twitter, and Youtube.
